Curated Collections

A trove of stories glimpsing luxurious obsessions, desires and peculiarities

Issue № 1 –
Luxury Wardrobes

In our very first issue of Curated Collections, we want to celebrate some of the details found in wardrobe systems. These could be simple features in the wardrobe that we might not think of, but they can help elevate the experience of dressing up and getting ready for the day.

Function Without Compromising Aesthetics

A private room adjacent to the main wardrobe at B Clubhouse showcases the owner’s vast collection of designer handbags and apparel, protected by a high-tech security system.

The client can also choose to hide her collection from the husband’s prying eyes with a switch of a button, converting the clear smart glass enclosed display to an opaque one that divides it from the main wardrobe area.

A Clever Lock and Key

A full glass cabinet displays the owner’s cherished possessions as objects of meaningful beauty. To keep them secure, the Ego glass cabinet has a cleverly disguised handle. Twisting it locks the cabinet and it can be pulled out as a key.

This discreetly designed key lock provides security, and blends into the handle detail elegantly, especially on a glass cabinet where the nooks and crannies are exposed.

Unbox the Latest Fashion in Style

Catering to our client who has a great love for fashion and parties, we designed a large walk-in wardrobe in this super penthouse where entire events can be held inside the space. More than just a wardrobe, the space reflects a specific lifestyle. The central lounge area furnished with an assortment of beautiful armchairs and love seats provides an area where the client can entertain guests in wardrobe parties with unboxing events.

On Cloud Nine

Pierre Frey wallpaper featuring patterns of soft clouds was specifically selected for this residence. Since it is a penthouse, the patterns allude to how close they are to the actual clouds outside. Even the colours of the wallpaper are reminiscent of hues seen in the sky at sunset.

The cloud patterns also make for a dreamy ambience that allows both the owner and her guests to feel like they are on cloud nine. Combined with the overall feminine and pastel palette of the room, it makes for a beautiful setting for the owner to film fashion videos or take portraits of herself in.

A Swinging Good Time

In B Clubhouse, the ottoman is reimagined as an elegant swing chair that seems to be floating above the ground. Aside from providing a seating area for rest and relaxation, the children can also play on it while spending time with their parents while they get ready.

Drawing Inspiration from the Surroundings

Within the smaller yet still spatially efficient walk-in wardrobe of the W Residence, we wanted to create a space that would put the owner in an inspired mood and start their day on a good note. A handmade Roll and Hill lamp serves as a theatrical centrepiece of the space, suspended above the island display unit.

The lamp’s design is a dynamic juxtaposition of geometric forms and material play, much alike the pairing of outfits to accessories showcased within the central display island. Marble is crafted to evoke the softness of upholstery works in the centrepiece island unit, creating a jewel-like spectacle.

A Medley of Curves

On the other side of the walk-in wardrobe at B Clubhouse, curves and arches accentuate the luxurious elegance of the space. A curved central island display anchors the main wardrobe area. Wardrobe systems don’t usually have curved island display units but we helped the client get one as curves help convey an essence of sensuality.

This room was also designed with a seating area so she can lounge while organising or trying on her bags. The layout of the room also allows for natural daylight entering from the glass door on the balcony to fill the interiors of the walk-in wardrobe; while protecting the leather bags from damage caused by direct sunlight.

The Beauty is in the Details

Glass-top drawer units for displaying accessories are beautiful but the mechanical parts of the drawer are usually low points in the luxury wardrobe experience. Instead, in the Poliform wardrobe series, a sleek accordion pleated fabric at the back hides the metal drawer track, so it almost looks like a dainty petticoat.

Glass display wardrobes have been around for a long time in the Poliform collection but integrated lighting was not initially designed as a built-in feature.

In 2017, when we specified it as a centrepiece display in a boutique-like walk-in closet for a client, we were initially disappointed that we could not opt for it to come with lighting. As Gwen the design principal recounted:

‘Sitting next to the brand representative for Poliform during a private dinner in Milan gave rise to the perfect opportunity to broach the subject of special customisation for lighting to my client’s order that had just been made. After a couple of champagnes and my utmost persistence, my client’s project became the first in Singapore at the very least to have that feature. It is much to our delight that the lighting customisation became subsequently available about a year after.’

In the years of designing wardrobe spaces, it brings us a lot of joy to curate the branded luxury wardrobes and highlight even the tiniest features, as well as customise the non-branded wardrobe collections down to the smallest detail to help elevate the experience of getting dressed.
