A sales gallery in Huanggang inspired by the expressions and art of Chinese calligraphy

Crowned ‘the city of Chinese calligraphy’, Huanggang is home to this art of writing which is the most highly prized form of visual art in China. While Chinese calligraphy is a very expressive form of artistic writing, there is control in it.

This design scheme is inspired by the lasting beauty of Chinese calligraphy strokes, which disposition is shown through the pressure changes in brush strokes, portraying a counterbalance of dynamism and order.

Another point of inspiration for the design of the interiors is derived from movable printing, which contribution is well-known in Chinese history and the advancement of literacy. With books and scrolls playing a major role in propagating Chinese literacy, they are used as a key point of design reference. The interior is created by the action of opening book/scroll and incorporating that into the feature walls that continues throughout the sales gallery experience.
